VOLTA

VOLTA

Let’s preface this review by saying that we don’t typically “brunch”.  We are more of nighttime explorers, seeking a delicious martini or cocktail in the ambiance of a dimly lit bar.   Also, with our different work schedules, night time just always seems to be the time for outings.  After learning one of our favorite “lunch” places offers $15.99 unlimited drinks for brunch, however, we figured we’d grab a group of ladies and try this out on a recent Saturday afternoon.

At around 11:30, a group of seven beautiful ladies arrived to Volta Gelateria Creperia for an afternoon that, I am sure, the staff wasn’t ready for.  Before ordering crepes,  we needed to start off with our first round of drinks.  Included in the unlimited drink special are Mimosas (orange juice and Champagne), Bellinis (peach puree and Prosecco), Bloody Mary’s, and have you heard of this one?? Rossinis (strawberry puree and Prosecco).  Get in my mouth!

Mimosa, Rossini, Bellini

To make the waiter’s life a bit easier, we all started off with a round of Mimosas.  Then on to the next cocktail (we skipped the bloody Mary’s), and a loop back around two more times, but who’s counting?   What’s a great cocktail without good food?  Their crepes are TO DIE FOR; enormous, delicious, and with just enough variety to please any palate (as picky as some of us are!)  They have “sweet crepes” like Steph’s favorite – Butter and Sugar, or Nutella, to “savory crepes” like Tuscan Chicken with grilled chicken, tomatoes, mozzarella and pesto sauce (see picture below) to Goat Cheese with an egg sunny side up, mixed greens, mushrooms and spinach (Manda’s favorite.)

After 3 ½ hours of chatting, giggling, drinking and eating, we felt it was time to say our goodbyes and get on with our day.  After seemingly endless Mimosas, Bellinis and Rossinis, we ended up with an impromptu trip to NYC.  I’d say we outdid ourselves that day!  Before we leave you, there’s more goodness to share with you.

In addition to the above greatness, Volta also has a Fresh Fruit Juice Bar where you can pick from many combinations like #10. Apple, pear, orange, lemon OR decide your own!  AND, yes – hence the name, gelato.   Just try any flavor, you won’t be disappointed.

If you are visiting Stamford for a day, or are lucky to live there, take a visit to “Volta.  With the vast selection of salads, sandwiches, soups, crepes, drinks, and “unlimited alcoholic beverages” you will be sure to leave with a smile on your face.

 Happy Hunting and Tini’s Up!~
